The new ShadowChase trailer has a new look. Last year, the club purchased a new, larger trailer as we had outgrown the old one. That trailer has remained plain white as a design hadn’t been finalized. The trailer is plain no longer.
The new design simply states what we are about. It also proudly displays our program logos: TRM and the Modesto Marathon.
This beautiful new trailer will be representing our club at races for years to come.

Teens Run Modesto Mentors Needed
Become a TRM Mentor and make a difference in student’s lives.
Donate 2-6 hours, 1 to 3 days a week at one of the TRM school sites in Modesto or Ceres. Mentors and students meet promptly after school is out of session for the day, usually 2:30 P.M. You do not need to be an experienced run-ner, you just need to have the passion to help students reach their potential and be successful in life.
TRM is a 26-week, conservative training pro-gram consisting of 4 running days per week which includes a Saturday program-wide group run beginning with the Halloween Fun Run on 10/31/15. The first training run consists of a 20-minute walk around the school track or cam-pus. By week 24, students will complete a long run of 20-22 miles.
Through mastering increasingly difficult running goals, students develop a “can do” attitude that will carry over into school, work, and life.
The program starts September 28 and culmi-nates with the running of the Modesto Mara-thon, 26.2 miles, on March 20th, 2016.

Help Recognize Our Volunteers
Our club runs on the efforts of our amazing volunteers. To better recognize those members who give back on a regular basis, we are adding a section to the newsletter for this.
The vision is a monthly spotlight on those timers, mentors, editors, etc. who are making a difference in ShadowChase.
To make this happen, we need someone to spearhead this page each month.
If interested, please email email@example.com.
Arson in the Park
If you’ve been in East La Loma Park lately, you’ve seen areas that have been burned. In two months, there have been more than 20 fires on our trails all due to arson. Deborah Steinberg, ShadowChase member, is committed to doing something to stop this activity which hinders the place we love to run, walk, and cycle.
Anywhere from Aug. 5-Aug. 25 can you commit to being in the park from 3pm-5pm? These hours seem to be the most prevalent times the arsonists are at work. Your only commitment is to be anywhere between Kewin Park and McClure Rd., walking, running, or cycling. If you can commit to a specific day between 3pm-5pm, please email Deborah at firstname.lastname@example.org. She will confirm your information and give further details. She suggests you have a cell phone, camera, and a buddy. Otherwise, enjoy your park, and please sign up if you can.
RRCA Rep Needed
The RRCA is looking for a State Representative for the Central Valley.
State Representatives are important ambassadors for the RRCA, promote our programs and services to clubs and events in their home state.
State Reps assist the National Office and the RRCA Board in carrying out the mission, vision and values of the organization, while monitoring trends and issues at the state and local level and report them to the National Office. In addition they promote membership in local clubs and recruit unaffiliated clubs, events, corporate supporters and individual members. This State Rep Duties PDF gives some great specifics on what this entails. Perks of the position include free registration and other discounts for the RRCA’s Annual convention, provided duties for that calendar year have been fulfilled.
If you’re interested please email email@example.com with a brief bio. Please also share why you’re interested in the role and what you’d hope to accomplish in the position. Applications for the position are due by September 1, 2015. At that time, top candidates will be referred to RRCA Western Region Director George Rehmet, who will help to make the final selection.
