Don’t miss the 10th Annual Wine and Movie Night at the State Theatre.
When: Saturday, February 16, 2019
Where: The State Theatre, 1387 J St., Modesto
Featuring two short documentaries:
*Diamond to the Rough, which follows the journey of former Major League Baseball player Eric Byrnes from the diamond to the trails of the 2016 Western States 100 Mile Endurance Run. Byrnes attempts to become the first former mainstream professional athlete to complete the grueling 100 mile course, which navigates 19,000 feet of elevation gain and 23,000 feet of descent across the Sierra Nevada mountain range. Byrnes relies on his crew of family and friends, including former professional cyclist Lance Armstrong, to help him through the arduous process which challenges both his physical and psychological limits.
The other film, Running Across California, features a young “no-name runner” who tries to break the record for the fastest known time a woman has ever run across the state — 262 miles in 10 days. She enlists the help of two friends in this story of a rag-tag female triad out to prove you don’t have to be an expert to go for something extraordinary.
A Q&A with cast members will follow the films.
